FERNANDO TORRES
In July 2007, Fernando Torres was transferred to Liverpool from Atletico Madrid for £20 million.
Torres had been with Atletico Madrid since childhood. Not only did he become, in May 2001, the youngest player to play for Atletico, but he was made captain at just 19.
Fernando Torres made his international debut for Spain in September 2003 against Portugal.
He missed a penalty but went on to score some crucial goals for Spain including the winner in the Euro 2008 final.
Torres made his debut for Liverpool against Aston Villa on August 11, 2007.

On 29 December 2009, in a game against Aston Villa, Fernando Torres scored his 50th league goal for Liverpool in his 72nd Premier League game. It was a record for lowest number of appearances to get to 50 goals for the club.
In 2010 Torres was part of Spain's World Cup winning squad and came on as a substitute in extra time in Spain's 1-0 defeat of Holland in the final.
On 31 January 2011, Fernando Torres was transferred from Liverpool to Chelsea for a record transfer fee paid by a British club, believed to be worth £50m. At the time Torres became the fourth most expensive transfer in world football behind Cristiano Ronaldo (80m), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (56.5m) and Kaka (56m).
Initially disappointing, there were signs that towards the end of the 2011/12 season Torres was starting to show a return to form, and in the summer of 2012, he was an integral part of the Spain squad which won Euro 2012. In spite of not being a regular in the starting line-up, he nevertheless won the Golden Boot.
